What is Welding Fabrication?

What is Welding and Fabrication?

Welding is a fabrication process where two or more parts are fused together by means of heat with or without application of pressure and addition of filler material. Welding is usually used on metals and thermoplastics but can also be used on wood. Welding is an essential process for every manufacturing industry. The weldability of any metal depends on five major factors.

The factors are as following:

• Melting point

• Thermal conductivity

• Thermal expansion

• Surface conduction

• Change in microstructure

Fabrication is defined as taking raw stock material to create an end product. This is not limited to welding because it covers the entire process of creating a product from designing and cutting to formation and finishing.
